They’re winners in our book.

Not one of the nominees for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards was a Black actor or actress, but at least presenters Halle Berry, Jennifer Hudson and Oprah turned the night out in their stunning gowns.

Does Halle Berry ever have an off moment at an award show? She could wear a potato sack and still look amazing, but she swept down the red carpet in a gorgeous embellished Marchesa gown.

The only thing that’s killing me about her look is the bottom of this dress. I’m not sure if it was the way she walked that bunched up the tulle in the very front or if it’s gathered that way to show off the beading at the bottom, but that effect makes the detail look a curtain that was thrown on as an after thought. I wish it pulled down a little more because the train is fabulous. Hopefully that’s just the picture.

Jennifer Hudson continued to remind us all that Weight Watchers has done her body good and wore a plunging, tangerine 2008 Spring Versace gown blinged out with Neil Lane diamond earrings and bracelets. She looked amazing; a huge improvement from the Oscar de la Renta dress and space-agey python bolero she wore to her first Oscar appearance.

Now some people are getting on her for pairing purple Versace heels with the bright dress, but I actually loved the color contrast:

What I couldn’t get into was her hair which was fashioned in a  pin curl, around-the-way ponytail.

A halter gown begs for a up-do, but a simpler one would’ve been much more sophisticated with this ensemble.

Oprah shimmered in a satin and beaded Zac Posen gown to present the Best Documentary Award. The off-the-shoulder, 3/4 sleeve, full skirt silhouette seems to be one of her favorites and the style always makes her look striking and regal.

Who had your favorite Oscar look?
